Our Mission
Bringing Transparency to Executive Recruitment
The Center for Recruiting Excellence exists to bring transparency, rigor, and accountability to the executive recruitment industry. Founded in 2011, the institute was created to address a fundamental gap in the talent acquisition ecosystem: while organizations spend billions of dollars annually on executive search, there existed no independent, methodologically sound framework for evaluating recruiter performance across disciplines. CFRE was established to fill that void and to serve as a trusted, impartial resource for HR leaders, boards, and C-suite executives who need reliable data to guide their search firm selection.
Our researchers apply the same standards of evidence and analytical discipline found in academic and scientific research to the evaluation of recruiting professionals. Every assessment we publish is grounded in our proprietary 142-point evaluation framework, developed by industrial-organizational psychologists and refined over more than a decade of continuous research. We do not accept advertising, referral fees, or sponsorships from the firms we evaluate, ensuring that our findings are free from commercial bias and conflicts of interest.
Today, CFRE's reports and frameworks are used by Fortune 500 companies, institutional investors, nonprofit boards, and government agencies to benchmark search firm performance and make data-driven vendor selection decisions. Our work has been cited in leading business publications, referenced in academic research, and recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management as a recommended resource for executive search evaluation. We remain committed to the principle that better data produces better hiring outcomes, and that the recruitment industry benefits when independent evaluation holds all participants to a higher standard.
